Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 9 ounces refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 2 ½ tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
  • ¾ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese (divided: ½ cup and ¼ cup)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the tortellini: Bring a medium saucepan of water to a boil. Add the cheese tortellini and cook for 4 minutes until tender. Drain and rinse with cold water thoroughly to remove moisture, ensuring the oil and seasonings will stick.
  2. Coat with olive oil: Place the drained tortellini in a medium bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Stir well to completely coat each piece.
  3. Add seasonings and parmesan: Sprinkle the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, black pepper, and ½ cup of freshly grated parmesan cheese over the tortellini. Stir until well combined and evenly coated.
  4. Preheat the air fryer: If your model requires preheating, warm the air fryer to 360°F, following your owner’s manual instructions.
  5. Prepare the air fryer basket: Spray the basket with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  6. Arrange tortellini in basket: Spread the coated tortellini in a single layer in the basket. If your air fryer is small, work in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  7. Air fry the tortellini: Cook for 6 minutes, then shake the basket gently to toss. Continue cooking another 5 to 6 minutes or until the tortellini are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve: Transfer the crispy tortellini to a serving dish. Sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup grated parmesan and chopped fresh parsley for garnish and extra flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure tortellini is completely drained and dry before coating to achieve crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary for even cooking.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
  • Adjust air frying time slightly based on your air fryer model and tortellini brand.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer to maintain crispiness.
