Ingredients

Scale

Pasta Base

  • 1 (20 oz) package refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Alfredo Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Topping

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prepare for baking.
  2. Cook Tortellini: Boil the cheese tortellini in salted water according to package instructions but reduce the cooking time by 1–2 minutes to keep them slightly less than al dente. Drain well and toss with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Make Alfredo Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, ensuring the garlic doesn’t brown.
  4. Simmer Cream and Cheese: Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, continuing to cook until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Combine Tortellini and Sauce: Add the cooked tortellini into the Alfredo sauce and toss gently until the pasta is fully coated and well mixed.
  6. Prepare for Baking: Transfer the creamy tortellini mixture evenly into the greased baking dish.
  7. Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and additional Parmesan cheese evenly over the pasta mixture.
  8. Bake: Bake the dish uncovered for 15–20 minutes, until the cheese on top is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve warm for a deliciously cheesy comfort meal.

Notes

  • You can add cooked chicken, crispy bacon, or fresh spinach to this dish for extra protein and flavor.
  • Using freshly grated Parmesan cheese ensures better melting and richer taste in the sauce.
  • Be careful not to overcook the tortellini before baking to maintain a pleasant texture.
  • Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat nicely in the oven or microwave.
