For the Sauce
- 5 tablespoons oil
- 3–5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 300 g ground beef
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 bell peppers, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons rice wine
For the Pasta
- 100 g angel hair pasta (or spaghetti, more or less for two servings)
- Garlic Frying: Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped garlic and fry it until it is slightly golden and fragrant. Remove the fried garlic from the oil and set it aside, but keep the oil in the saucepan for the next step.
- Beef Browning: Add the ground beef to the saucepan with the garlic-infused oil. Fry the beef over medium heat until it turns slightly golden and starts sizzling. Add the soy sauce and mix thoroughly with the beef. Continue frying for about 10 seconds to let the sauce meld.
- Combining Bell Pepper: Add the finely chopped bell peppers and the reserved fried garlic back into the saucepan. Stir well to combine all ingredients. Cover the pan with a lid and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until the bell peppers have softened. Once done, turn off the heat to prepare for the pasta cooking step.
- Pasta Cooking and Mixing: Cook the angel hair pasta in boiling water until it is about 80% done (still slightly firm). Meanwhile, turn the heat back on under the sauce, add the rice wine to the pan and stir it in. Drain the pasta, reserving about 3-4 tablespoons of pasta cooking water. Add the pasta along with the reserved pasta water into the saucepan. Mix everything together and cook until the pasta is fully cooked and the sauce thickens a bit. If it becomes too dry, add more pasta water to reach desired consistency.
Notes
- You can adjust the number of garlic cloves to taste for a milder or stronger garlic flavor.
- Use rice wine or a mild dry white wine as a substitute if rice wine is unavailable.
- Angel hair pasta cooks very quickly, so watch it carefully to avoid overcooking.
- If you want to intensify the sauce flavor, add a pinch of freshly ground black pepper or chili flakes during the beef browning step.
- This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables or a light Asian-style salad for a complete meal.
