Ingredients

Scale

For the Cajun Steak Bites

  • 1 ½ lbs sirloin steak or ribeye, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

For the Cheesy Garlic Shells

  • 8 oz medium pasta shells
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the medium pasta shells and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Season the Steak Bites: In a large bowl, combine the cubed steak with the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss well to coat all pieces evenly.
  3. Cook the Steak: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak bites in a single layer and sear them for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness. Remove steak from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Sauté Garlic for Steak: In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and the 2 minced garlic cloves. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds, then return the steak bites to the skillet and toss to combine with the garlic butter. Remove from heat and cover to keep warm.
  5. Prepare the Cheesy Garlic Sauce: In a separate saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until aromatic, about 1 minute. Stir in the heavy cream, bring to a gentle simmer, and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Add Cheese and Spices: Reduce heat to low and whisk in shredded sharp cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Add paprika and black pepper to the sauce and stir well.
  7. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta shells to the cheesy garlic sauce, stirring gently to coat each shell. Cook together on low heat for 1-2 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Serve: Plate the cheesy garlic shells and top with the Cajun steak bites. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately for a delicious, satisfying meal.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add extra Cajun seasoning or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the steak.
  • Use fresh pasta shells or other pasta shapes like rotini or penne if preferred.
  • To make this dish lower in fat, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a lighter cream alternative and reduce the butter slightly.
  • Ensure the steak pieces are evenly sized for consistent cooking.
  • Let the steak rest briefly after cooking to retain juices and tenderness.
