Ingredients

Scale

For the Breaded Chicken:

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 egg whisked with a splash of milk
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 4 Tablespoons salted butter (slightly melted)
  • 2 Tablespoons mayo
  • 23 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 23 Tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • ¼ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese

For the Caesar Dressing:

  • ½ cup mayo
  • ¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic (grated)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For Assembly:

  • 4 hoagie rolls or baguette
  • 34 cups romaine lettuce (chopped or shredded)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness if needed. In a bowl, whisk together the egg and a splash of milk. In another bowl, mix garlic powder, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, and Panko. Dip each chicken breast first into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the breadcrumb mix.
  2. Fry Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded chicken breasts until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. Make Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine slightly melted butter, mayo, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and finely grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  4. Toast Bread: Slice rolls or baguette lengthwise. Brush the insides generously with the garlic butter mixture. Toast the bread either in a skillet or oven until golden and fragrant.
  5. Prepare Caesar Dressing: In a bowl, whisk together mayo, sour cream or Greek yogurt, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, anchovy paste, Worcestershire sauce, grated garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  6. Assemble Sandwiches: Spread a generous layer of Caesar dressing on both sides of the toasted bread. Place the crispy chicken breast on the bottom half, then top with chopped romaine lettuce. Close the sandwich with the top half of the bread.
  7. Serve: Cut sandwiches in half if desired and serve immediately, enjoying the blend of crunchy, creamy, and savory flavors.

Notes

  • You can substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a tangier dressing and lower fat content.
  • Anchovy paste adds authentic Caesar flavor but can be omitted for a milder taste.
  • For a healthier version, bake the breaded chicken instead of frying at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Use fresh romaine for the best crunch and flavor.
  • Garlic butter can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
