Ingredients

Scale

Protein and Seasoning

  • 450 g lean ground beef (93% lean preferred)
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix (or 2 tablespoons homemade)
  • 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Vegetables and Oils

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Toppings

  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 240 g cottage cheese (low-fat or full-fat)
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey (spicy honey)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Toss the diced sweet potatoes with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Add the seasoned sweet potatoes to the skillet and cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until tender and slightly caramelized. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the diced yellow onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Stir in the taco seasoning and continue cooking for another 2 minutes, ensuring the meat is well coated and flavorful.
  3. Assemble the Bowl: In serving bowls, layer the cooked seasoned ground beef and roasted sweet potatoes. Add slices of fresh avocado on top. Dollop cottage cheese alongside or over the ingredients.
  4. Finish with Hot Honey: Drizzle 2 tablespoons of hot honey evenly over each bowl to add a sweet and spicy kick. Serve immediately while warm for the best experience.

Notes

  • For a homemade taco seasoning, mix chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • You can substitute sweet potatoes with butternut squash or carrots for variation.
  • Adjust the amount of hot honey according to your spice preference.
  • For a dairy-free version, replace cottage cheese with a plant-based alternative or omit it entirely.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
