These homemade pizza pockets are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or meal option, featuring a crispy pizza crust filled with savory pasta sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and classic pepperoni slices. Perfect for a quick lunch, dinner, or party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough and Sauce

  • 1 refrigerated tube of pizza crust (about 13.8 oz)
  • 6 tablespoons pasta sauce

For the Filling

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Approximately 12 pepperoni slices
  • Sprinkle of oregano leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready when the pizza pockets are assembled.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the refrigerated pizza crust onto a clean surface, making sure it is evenly spread to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  3. Add Sauce: Spread 6 tablespoons of pasta sauce evenly over half of the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges to seal later.
  4. Add Fillings: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then distribute approximately 12 pepperoni slices evenly on top of the cheese. Optionally, sprinkle oregano leaves for added flavor.
  5. Fold and Seal: Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket. Press the edges together firmly to seal the pizza pocket, using a fork to crimp the edges and prevent any filling from leaking out.
  6. Bake: Transfer the prepared pizza pockets onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese inside melts.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the pizza pockets to cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid burns and let the filling set.

Notes

  • You can add other fillings such as mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives to customize your pizza pockets.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the outside with a little olive oil before baking.
  • Use marinara or any tomato-based pasta sauce for best results.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
  • Oregano is optional but adds a nice herbal note to the pockets.
