Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • ½ lbs Boneless, skinless chicken, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch (for coating)
  • ½ tsp Salt (to taste)
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper (to taste)

Sauce & Cooking

  • 2 tbsp Olive oil (for cooking)
  • 6 cloves Garlic, minced
  • ⅓ cup Honey (for sauce)
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce (use tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar (adds acidity)
  • ½ tsp Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Garnish

  • 2 tbsp Green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Patting: Pat dry the chicken cubes thoroughly to remove excess moisture. Toss them evenly with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until fully coated. This will help achieve a crispy exterior.
  2. Heating: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering and hot enough for cooking.
  3. Cooking: Place the chicken cubes in the skillet in a single layer, cooking in batches if needed. Cook each side for 3-4 minutes until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Removing: Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate. Reduce the heat to medium to prepare for the sauce.
  5. Sautéing: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
  6. Stirring: Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 1-2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  7. Returning: Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet, tossing them thoroughly to coat each bite with the honey garlic sauce.
  8. Thickening: Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly and cling to the chicken.
  9. Garnishing: Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the chicken bites with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for a fresh and nutty finish.
  10. Serving: Serve immediately while warm, perfect as a main dish alongside rice or steamed vegetables, or as a flavorful appetizer.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
  • If you prefer spicier bites, increase the red pepper flakes or add a dash of chili garlic sauce.
  • Ensure the chicken pieces are cut uniformly for even cooking.
  • You can use other oils with high smoke points like avocado oil if preferred.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
