Ingredients

Scale

Apple Filling

  • 2 apples, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Dough & Caramel

  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 8 pieces caramel candy
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • Cinnamon sugar (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. Add the finely chopped apples, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the apples become tender and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the pie bombs.
  3. Prepare Biscuit Dough: Open the refrigerated biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Flatten each biscuit into a roughly 4-inch circle using your hands or a rolling pin to create enough surface for filling.
  4. Assemble the Pie Bombs: Place a spoonful of the cooled apple filling onto the center of each flattened biscuit. Place one piece of caramel candy on top of the filling. Carefully fold and pinch the edges of the biscuit dough together, making sure to seal the pockets tightly so the filling doesn’t leak out during baking.
  5. Apply Butter & Cinnamon Sugar: Brush the outside of each sealed pie bomb with the melted butter. For extra flavor and a beautiful finish, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top if desired.
  6. Bake: Arrange the pie bombs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, spacing them an inch apart. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool & Serve: Allow the caramel apple pie bombs to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving, as the filling will be hot and gooey. Enjoy warm for the best taste experience.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balance against the sweet caramel.
  • Make sure to seal the biscuit dough edges well to prevent caramel leakage during baking.
  • Cinnamon sugar topping is optional but adds a nice crunch and extra flavor.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an indulgent dessert.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerated for up to 4 days; reheat gently before serving.
