Delicious and easy-to-make peanut butter balls coated in rich melted chocolate. These no-bake treats combine creamy peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar for a sweet and satisfying dessert or snack that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Peanut Butter Mixture

  • 1 cup (283g) creamy peanut butter
  • 6 tablespoons (84g) butter
  • 2 ¾ cups (311g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 package (10 ounces) chocolate melting chocolate (such as Ghirardelli or Candiquik)

Instructions

  1. Cream Peanut Butter and Butter: In a mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to cream the peanut butter and butter together until smooth and well combined.
  2. Add Powdered Sugar and Vanilla: Gradually add the powdered sugar to the peanut butter mixture, mixing thoroughly to combine. Stir in the vanilla extract evenly throughout.
  3. Prepare Cookie Sheet: Line a large cookie sheet with wax paper or parchment paper to prevent sticking during chilling and chocolate coating.
  4. Form Peanut Butter Balls: Scoop 1-inch portions of the peanut butter mixture and roll them into balls with your hands. Place each ball onto the prepared cookie sheet, spacing evenly to avoid sticking.
  5. Chill Peanut Butter Balls: Refrigerate the cookie sheet with the peanut butter balls for about 20 minutes, or until the balls have hardened and are firm to the touch.
  6. Melt Chocolate: Place the melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds. Stir well, then microwave in additional 10-second intervals as necessary, stirring between each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Follow package instructions closely.
  7. Coat Peanut Butter Balls: Remove the chilled peanut butter balls from the refrigerator. Using a toothpick, dip each ball individually into the melted chocolate, making sure it is fully coated. Set the coated balls back onto the lined cookie sheet.
  8. Let Chocolate Harden: Allow the chocolate-covered peanut butter balls to set at room temperature or place back in the refrigerator until the chocolate coating has hardened completely.
  9. Store Properly: Store the finished peanut butter balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Ensure that the peanut butter is creamy for smooth mixing and best texture.
  • Use high-quality melting chocolate for smooth coating and better flavor.
  • Chilling the peanut butter balls before dipping prevents them from falling apart when coated.
  • You can substitute vanilla extract with almond extract for a different flavor profile.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep the peanut butter balls fresh and prevent the chocolate from sweating.
