Pecan Pie Crescent Rolls combine the flaky, buttery texture of crescent roll dough with a sweet and gooey pecan pie filling. These delightful pastries are perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert, featuring a rich filling made from pecans, brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter, all wrapped in golden, tender crescent rolls.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls

Filling

  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and set it aside for assembling the rolls.
  2. Mix Filling Base: In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, light corn syrup, melted unsalted butter, pure vanilla extract, and the large egg. Stir well to create a smooth mixture. Save 2 tablespoons of this mixture aside for glazing later.
  3. Incorporate Pecans: Add the chopped pecans into the remaining sugar mixture and stir until the nuts are evenly coated in the filling base.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Unroll the crescent dough and separate into individual triangles. Place the triangles on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the pecan filling onto the widest end of each triangle. Roll each triangle tightly toward the narrow end, enclosing the filling inside.
  5. Initial Bake: Bake the assembled rolls in the preheated oven for 8 minutes. This step allows the dough to start setting without fully browning.
  6. Glaze and Finish Baking: Remove the rolls from the oven then brush each one with the reserved 2 tablespoons of sugar mixture glaze. Return them to the oven and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes, or until they turn a light golden brown color.
  7. Optional Garnish: Once baked, remove from the oven and optionally sprinkle additional chopped pecans or a light dusting of powdered sugar for extra garnish and flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the pecans are finely chopped for easier rolling and better texture.
  • Do not overfill the crescent dough triangles to prevent leakage during baking.
  • Brush the glaze evenly to give the rolls a shiny, appealing finish and enhance sweetness.
  • Serving warm provides the best flavor and texture experience.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat gently before serving.
