Truffle Mixture
- 12–15 sugar cookies (approximately 5 ounces, such as Pepperidge Farms)
- 2–3 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Coating
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate melting wafers
- Optional: sprinkles for decoration
- Blend Cookies: Place the sugar cookies in a blender or food processor and blend until they form fine crumbs, ensuring a smooth base for the truffle mixture.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract to the cookie crumbs, then pulse until the mixture is thoroughly combined. If the dough feels too firm, add an extra ounce of cream cheese to achieve the right consistency.
- Scoop and Roll: Line a baking sheet with parchment or freezer paper. Use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion out the dough, then roll each portion into a smooth ball. Arrange the balls on the prepared baking sheet and freeze for about 20 minutes until firm.
- Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate wafers for 1 minute. Stir until smooth, then continue to microwave in 15-30 second intervals as needed until fully melted and silky.
- Dip Truffles: Using a fork, dip each chilled truffle ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Tap the fork gently against the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate, then transfer the coated truffle back onto the lined baking sheet. Use a toothpick to help slide the truffle off the fork if necessary.
- Add Sprinkles and Chill: Immediately sprinkle any desired decorations over the chocolate-coated truffles before the chocolate sets. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to let the truffles chill and harden completely.
Notes
- If your mixture is too dry or crumbly, add more cream cheese a tablespoon at a time to reach the proper consistency.
- For a different flavor twist, try using different flavored cookies or adding a pinch of cinnamon to the mixture.
- Chocolate melting wafers can be substituted with any high-quality chocolate chips or bars suitable for melting.
- Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- These truffles can also be frozen for longer storage; thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
